AT HOME: SAFETY FIRST

 

Demand for compliance tests increased in 2007, notably for toys (2,500 toys tested) and infant care articles (1,450 articles). And with a new safety directive under discussion at the European commission concerning, among other things, chemical safety for toys, Sunlab is already prepared to help manufacturers meet the new requirements and get technical support for compliance.

Private swimming pool protection device testing also increased, with Next focus on alarms. Sunlab built a test pool in Trappes. Large demand continues for bicycles compliance tests (around 100 products), and this year Sunlab assessed around 40 imported quads and mini-motorbike for importers or for monitoring the market. Sunlab also had a high demand for condom double compliance (EC + NF) testing with the launch of the 20-cent condom campaign.
